Calcium citrate is calcium bound to citric acid, one of several mineral forms used in supplements. Its main advantage over calcium carbonate (the most common and cheapest form) is that it doesn't rely on stomach acid to be absorbed, so it can be taken with or without food and is generally better tolerated by people with sensitive digestion.

Calcium plays a well-established role in bone health, muscle function and normal cell signalling, and requirements can be harder to meet on lower-dairy or plant-based diets. Calcium citrate is often paired with magnesium and vitamin D, since all three work together in bone metabolism.

Dosing calcium supplements is generally best spread across the day in smaller amounts rather than one large dose, as absorption efficiency drops at higher single doses.

Check our Calcium Citrate Powder listing for current specs, and see our Magnesium Glycinate if you're building out a complete mineral stack.

As with any supplement, check with your healthcare professional before starting, particularly if you take other medications or have kidney concerns.
