Almond Protein Isolate: A Novel Plant-Based Protein

Almond protein isolate is one of the less common plant-based proteins on the market, made by removing most of the fat and carbohydrate from almonds to concentrate the protein content. It sits alongside pea and soy as an alternative for people avoiding dairy or looking to diversify their plant protein sources.

Nutritionally, almond protein is a reasonable source of amino acids but is generally lower in protein-per-serve than pea protein isolate or whey, and like most single plant sources, it's not a complete protein on its own - it runs lower in lysine, which is why it's often blended with other plant proteins rather than used alone. Its main appeal is flavour: almond protein carries a naturally nutty, mild taste that blends well in baking and smoothies without needing much added flavouring.

If you're building a plant-based protein routine, almond protein works best as part of a mix rather than your sole protein source - pairing it with a pea protein isolate or plant protein blend rounds out the amino acid profile.
